About the Founders
Co-founder Emese
Emese started her beauty career in 1990 and spent 2 years in esthetician training and mentorship, which was a rigorous skincare professional licensing program in Hungary. Estheticians received a solid theoretical and practical skincare foundation and had mandatory apprenticeship under seasoned skincare professionals for the full 2 years of the program so they could feel confident enough to be successful estheticians right after graduation, after having completed about 400 hours of theoretical coursework and over 2600 hours (!) of practical training. Hungarian facial massage education was taken very seriously in the 1990’s. Students spent a whole year perfecting their massage skills and basic services before moving on to more advanced areas of skincare during their second year of apprenticeship.
After graduating esthetician school in Hungary, Emese further enhanced her expertise through industry training courses in New York City. She worked for several prestigious skincare lines as an educator and traveled to luxury resorts to train spa personnel on how to perform signature facials and body treatments. Today, she offers her own clients unparalleled and cutting-edge skincare service, combined with profound knowledge of the skin, creating a unique and transformative experience for every individual.
Co-founder Zsuzsa (Suzy)
European Skin Academy’s co-founder, Zsuzsa, struggled with acne from the age of 16 and wanted to heal it with natural methods and ingredients so she spent decades researching the science behind skincare treatments. She recognized the benefits of microneedling by reading scientific literature published in Europe. She started microneedling her own acne scars in the early 2000’s with European dermaroller devices, long before the well-known microneedling pens of today existed, and before microneedling became widely offered by dermatologists or estheticians in the USA. After successfully reversing her own acne scars, she quit her career in information technology and got certified as an esthetician. She loves incorporating manual techniques such as facial lymphatic drainage massage and gua sha to elevate her results. She also specializes in lymphatic drainage and microcurrent facials for plastic surgery patients. Zsuzsa is passionate about bringing a holistic skincare approach to her clients, and continues her research to find the most effective ton-toxic formulations and non- or minimally invasive skincare technology. She holds numerous certificates including manual lymphatic drainage for the face, gua sha facials, microneedling, microcurrent, ultrasound, radiofrequency, plasma technology, and more.
